Policy on Gifts

The Northville District Library encourages gifts of money, materials and property.
However, gifts will not be used to establish a program which the library is not able to maintain.

Individuals wishing to make a monetary gift to the library may specify in broad terms the area for which they would like the gift to be used.

The library retains unconditional ownership of all gifts and reserves the right to decide conditions of display and access. Gift materials will be added to the library’s collection and retained as long as they meet the same standards required of purchased materials. Materials not meeting these standards will be discarded following library policy.

The library does not appraise or otherwise put a value on gifts.
