If you love libraries and want to help the Northville District Library, you may want to consider joining this important support group, whose role is to advocate for the Library and help raise funds for enhancing the Library.
Funds are raised through Friends membership dues, proceeds form the Book Cellar and the Friends Gift Store, our annual Used Book Sale, and other special projects.
The Friends have donated more than $350,000 to the Library since 1992. Examples of what the Friends funding has provided include: • Annual support for programs and supplies for the Summer Reading Programs for Children, Teens, and Adults. • Portable cart of wireless laptops for Computer Classes • Digital Microfilm Reader in Local History Room • Computers for Local History use • New Library signage • Seed money for new collections, such as Books on CD and Music CDs • Fiber art sculpture in the Library’s Clerestory by renowned artist Gerhardt Knodel
Friends also provide critical volunteer help for special events and fund-raising activities. It’s a great way to meet others with similar interests! Ways to volunteer include: • Assist in the Friends Gift Store or the Book Cellar • Help register youth for Summer Reading Program in June • Help with Used Book Sales • Be part of Bakers on Call to provide refreshments • Serve as a Director on the Friends Board
